Commercial-vehicle battery platform
Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited, known as CATL, unveiled TECTRANS II on September 14, 2026, at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover. The company described it as a next-generation battery solution for commercial vehicles. CATL said the modular platform is designed for different commercial-vehicle applications and can support a maximum range of up to 1,000 kilometers.
Range, charging and efficiency
According to the company, TECTRANS II supports 80 percent charging in 25 minutes with megawatt-level fast charging. CATL also reported a gravimetric energy density of 170 watt-hours per kilogram and system round-trip efficiency of 96 percent. The company release said the platform supports both e-axle and central-drive architectures as well as charging and battery-swapping configurations.
European freight collaboration
CATL also said it signed a memorandum of understanding with DHL Group at the show to develop green freight corridors across Europe. The companies plan to work with automakers and other partners on purpose-built electric vehicles and pilot deployments, according to CATL's release.
