Rafale AI testing

On September 22, Dassault Aviation said it had flight-tested two sovereign artificial-intelligence algorithms on the Rafale fighter jet. According to the company’s issuer release distributed by GlobeNewswire, one algorithm was developed by Dassault Aviation engineers and the other in collaboration with Thales/cortAIx.

The company said the functions are part of an initiative to integrate controlled and supervised AI into the cockpit in support of human crews. It added that the functions had reached a level of maturity that made them eligible for future Rafale upgrades, without disclosing test results or a deployment schedule.

Portugal cooperation memorandum

On September 23, Dassault Aviation, representing its Rafale partners Thales and Safran, signed a memorandum of understanding with AED Cluster Portugal. The agreement is intended to explore cooperation between the Rafale partners and Portugal’s aeronautical, space and defense industries in the context of the Portuguese Air Force’s F-16 fleet renewal, according to the GlobeNewswire release carried by Via Ritzau.

The release said the memorandum followed Dassault Aviation’s official submission of a Rafale bid to the Portuguese government and air force in July 2026.
