Virginia package announced
On September 14, 2026, Dominion Energy, Inc. and NextEra Energy, Inc. announced an enhanced Virginia benefits package as part of their proposed combination. The package includes four years of proposed residential bill credits, a $100 million increase in Dominion Energy’s EnergyShare assistance program through 2038, and plans for 1,000 new direct jobs in Virginia, according to the Dominion Energy newsroom.
The companies said the proposed combination remains subject to required regulatory approvals, the expiration or termination of the Hart-Scott-Rodino waiting period and other customary closing conditions. They continue to expect the transaction to close in the second half of 2027, while the companies remain separate and independent until closing, the company release said.
