EUR 1 billion green credit facility
On September 7, 2026, the European Investment Bank said Elia Transmission Belgium had secured a EUR 1 billion green credit facility for the second phase of the Princess Elisabeth artificial energy island in the North Sea. The EIB said the funding would cover, among other items, the island’s high-voltage substation, transformers and alternating-current connections to the mainland.
MarketScreener’s company profile lists Elia Transmission Belgium among the companies of Elia Group. The EIB said a first drawdown under the green facility was made around the end of July and that the project is preparing for the connection of the first offshore wind farms in the Princess Elisabeth Zone from 2031 onwards.
