2026 earnings outlook raised
In an ad-hoc announcement dated September 28, Hapag-Lloyd AG said its Executive Board had further raised the outlook for financial year 2026. Group EBITDA is now expected at USD 3.9 billion to USD 4.4 billion, compared with the previous range of USD 2.7 billion to USD 3.7 billion. Group EBIT is expected at USD 1.25 billion to USD 1.75 billion, versus the previous range of USD 0.1 billion to USD 1.1 billion, according to EQS News.
The company also stated that the outlook reflected continued strong market demand and positive spot freight-rate development. It cautioned that volatile freight rates and persistent geopolitical challenges meant the forecast was subject to a high degree of uncertainty, the EQS News announcement said.
New operating chief
Anders Boenaes became Hapag-Lloyd’s Chief Operating Officer on October 1, as previously decided by the company’s Supervisory Board. The board had also extended Chief Terminal & Infrastructure Officer Dheeraj Bhatia’s contract through December 31, 2029, according to EQS News.
