FDA approval for Atebrioz

Incyte and Mirum Pharmaceuticals announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Atebrioz, or zilurgisertib, to reduce the volume of total new heterotopic ossification in adult and pediatric patients aged 12 years and older with fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva. Incyte developed Atebrioz and licensed it to Mirum for worldwide development and commercialization.

The recommended dose is 100 mg taken orally once daily. The approval was based on Cohort 1 of the PROGRESS study. During the study’s 24-week double-blind period, mean total new heterotopic ossification lesion volume decreased by 3.2 cubic centimeters in patients receiving zilurgisertib, compared with an increase of 24.6 cubic centimeters among placebo-treated patients.

Incyte said the FDA also issued it a Rare Pediatric Disease Priority Review Voucher. Atebrioz is expected to become commercially available in the United States in October through Mirum Access Plus, with eligible patients paying as little as USD 0 per month, according to the release.
