Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. launched new tanker and container freight futures and options on October 5, 2026, according to an issuer release distributed by Business Wire.

New freight contracts

ICE launched its first tanker freight futures on the TD34 Gulf of Oman-to-China and TD15 West Africa-to-China very large crude carrier routes. The cash-settled contracts are based on Baltic Exchange price assessments. ICE also launched cash-settled container freight average-price options for Asia-to-North Europe and Asia-to-U.S. West Coast routes, indexed to NYSHEX freight indices. The new contracts expand ICE's freight complex to more than 90 contracts across more than 30 global routes, the company said in the Business Wire release.

September trading activity

In a separate October 5, 2026 release, ICE reported that total September average daily volume increased 51 percent year over year and open interest rose 13 percent. Total financials average daily volume increased 81 percent, while total interest-rates average daily volume rose 95 percent. The company published the figures through Business Wire.
