Precision Strike Missile contract
On September 21, Lockheed Martin announced that the U.S. Army had awarded it an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract worth up to $1.2 billion for production of Increment 2 of the Precision Strike Missile. The company said the award covers initial procurement, future orders, follow-on production and continued development. Lockheed Martin said the missile’s second flight test, conducted in August, demonstrated engagement of moving maritime targets.
The company said PrSM Increment 2 adds a multimode seeker designed to support engagements against moving land and maritime targets. Additional Increment 2 flight tests are scheduled for 2027, while production of initial missiles is set to begin.
PAC-3 MSE component delivery
In a separate September 17 release, Lockheed Martin said GM Defense delivered the first batch of PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement housing components on August 28, 22 days after the companies signed a formal contract. The release said the partnership is intended to accelerate production and strengthen the U.S. defense industrial base. The company reported that it is investing $8 billion to $9 billion to scale munitions production.
