Fleet expansion
On September 17, 2026, the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG approved the exercise of options for 20 Boeing 737 MAX 10 aircraft, according to a Lufthansa Group newsroom release. The options came from a 2023 order for 40 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft that included 60 purchase options for additional aircraft from the Boeing 737 MAX family.
Deliveries of the newly ordered Boeing 737 MAX 10 aircraft are scheduled to begin in the early 2030s. Lufthansa said the aircraft are intended to gradually replace older Airbus A320 family aircraft across the Group. The order has a list value of approximately USD 3.4 billion, the release said.
Executive mandates extended
Also on September 17, 2026, the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG reappointed Grazia Vittadini, Dr. Till Streichert and Dieter Vranckx, according to a Lufthansa Group newsroom release. Vittadini’s term as chief technology officer runs through June 30, 2030. Chief financial officer Streichert was reappointed through September 14, 2032, while chief commercial officer Vranckx was reappointed through June 30, 2032.
