New oil-bearing interval offshore Amapá
On October 2, 2026, Petrobras reported a new oil-bearing interval in the Morpho well, also identified as 1-BRSA-1405-APS, in block FZA-M-59 off the coast of Brazil’s Amapá state. The well is in ultra-deep water at 2,886 meters. Petrobras said the discovery was identified through electric logs, rock indications and fluid samples obtained during drilling.
Petrobras said the new discovery will provide additional information for evaluating the petroleum systems and resource potential of the Foz do Amazonas Sedimentary Basin. Laboratory analyses remain in progress, while the company plans to complete drilling and continue evaluating the identified formations.
