DOE funding selected for transmission project
On September 24, PPL Electric Utilities, part of the PPL Corporation family of companies, said it had been selected to receive up to USD 71.5 million in U.S. Department of Energy funding for the Montour Grid Resilience and Advanced Reconductoring Project, according to PR Newswire.
The proposed project will rebuild approximately 29.3 miles of an existing 230-kilovolt transmission corridor in Pennsylvania. PPL Electric Utilities said the work will use advanced conductors and distributed acoustic sensing, while the company and the DOE negotiate and finalize the award terms.
