FDA clearance expands QIAstat-Dx menu
QIAGEN N.V. said on September 28 that U.S. laboratories now have access to its complete QIAstat-Dx bloodstream infection portfolio after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration cleared a new panel. The QIAstat-Dx BCID GN Plus AMR Panel identifies 13 gram-negative bacterial pathogen targets and 18 antimicrobial resistance markers, with results delivered in about one hour, according to the company’s press release.
Together with the previously cleared gram-positive bacteria and fungi panel, the two tests cover 33 pathogen targets and 28 antibiotic resistance markers. QIAGEN said the clearance expands the U.S. QIAstat-Dx infectious disease testing menu, which also includes respiratory, gastrointestinal, meningitis and encephalitis testing.
New automation system launched
In a September 24 release, QIAGEN announced QIAmini, a compact automated sample preparation system for research laboratories processing smaller sample batches. The benchtop system processes up to eight samples per run and automates DNA and RNA extraction and purification. QIAGEN said evaluated workflows showed a reduction of more than 80 percent in hands-on time, according to its press release.
