Industrial milestones in additive manufacturing
In a September 28, 2026 update, Safran said its Additive Manufacturing Campus had moved from experimental work to serial production five years after opening. The campus now has more than 25 part numbers in serial production and manages around 100 development and industrialization projects.
Safran said the campus delivered 15,000 parts in 2025 and expects to deliver 18,000 in 2026. Its workforce has grown from around 60 to more than 150 employees, according to the company.
Minority stake in Akira
Safran said on September 22, 2026, through its corporate venture capital subsidiary Safran Corporate Ventures, that it had acquired a minority stake in Akira as part of the company’s latest funding round. The company said the investment would support Akira’s growth and strengthen an industrial partnership.
Akira specializes in the design, prototyping and testing of propulsion systems and rotating machinery. Safran said the funding round would support expanded production and testing capabilities, EN 9100 certification and activities in drone propulsion and defense-related microturbines.
