Schneider Electric and Silicon Quantum Computing advanced to Stage 2 of the Australian governmentâs Critical Technologies Challenge Program on October 1, 2026, according to a PR Newswire release. The partnership with the University of New South Wales received A$3.6 million in funding to continue work on energy forecasting in Australia.
Forecasting project moves into second stage
The companies said their first-stage work used SQCâs Watermelon quantum-enhanced artificial-intelligence system with Schneider Electric forecasting models. Applied to next-day forecasting data covering 12 months, the approach produced an average 20 percent improvement against a classical benchmark, with gains of up to 41 percent. Stage 2 will expand modeling to hundreds of homes and integrate the work into Schneider Electricâs artificial-intelligence workflows, the release said.
Data-center cooling portfolio expands
In a separate September 23, 2026 release, Schneider Electric said its new Motivair coolant distribution unit supports hybrid air- and liquid-cooling architectures for high-density artificial-intelligence data centers. A single unit can provide cooling capacity of up to 3.5 megawatts, while as many as 20 units can operate together. Shipments are scheduled to begin in selected regions in October 2026, with U.S. preorders planned for early 2027.
