AI research highlights potential building savings

In research published September 21, Schneider Electric said AI-enabled buildings could reduce whole-building energy use by up to 22 percent compared with traditional controls. The company also estimated annual utility savings of USD 13,600 to USD 49,300 per building at current commercial rates, according to the Schneider Electric release distributed by GlobeNewswire.

The study found that AI-driven HVAC optimization deployed through a smart building management system could contribute an additional 7.2 percent to 12.7 percent of building energy savings. It also reported potential annual carbon-emissions reductions of up to 60 metric tons per building. These findings were based on building-energy modeling validated against real-world pilot deployments across Australia, India and the United States, the release said.

New power modules for AI infrastructure

On September 16, Schneider Electric announced a new range of prefabricated power modules and power skids for hyperscale, neocloud and colocation data centers. The solutions are available in 2MW, 2.25MW and 2.5MW configurations and are designed to support AI-ready infrastructure, according to the company’s press release. Schneider Electric said the designs could support deployment timelines as short as six months.
