Factory opening adds production capacity
On September 17, SMA Solar Technology AG officially inaugurated its new Gigawatt Factory in Niestetal near Kassel, Germany. According to the company's release, the facility is designed for an annual production capacity of more than 60 GW under full utilization.
SMA said the project represents an investment volume of approximately EUR 80 million, including around EUR 50 million in lease payments and approximately EUR 30 million in production infrastructure and equipment. The factory has 46,000 square meters of site area and 20,500 square meters of floor space, the company said in the same release.
