SoftBank Group reports completion of USD 30.0 billion OpenAI investment

SoftBank Group Corp. completed the third and final tranche of its follow-on investment in OpenAI on October 1, 2026, Japan time. The tranche amounted to USD 10.0 billion and was executed through SoftBank Vision Fund 2, according to a SoftBank Group release.
OpenAI investment program completed
The transaction completed SoftBank Group’s previously announced USD 30.0 billion follow-on investment program. The company said its cumulative investment in OpenAI now totals USD 64.6 billion and that its ownership interest is approximately 13 percent, as stated in the official announcement.
Bridge facility fully repaid
SoftBank Group also said it canceled the remaining USD 10.0 billion of undrawn capacity under a USD 40.0 billion bridge facility effective September 30, 2026. Following the cancellation and an earlier repayment, all borrowings under the facility had been repaid and no undrawn commitments remained, the SoftBank Group release said.
