Crew-13 launches to the space station
NASA said SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 carrying its Dragon spacecraft on the Crew-13 mission to the International Space Station on October 1. The four-person crew included NASA astronauts Jessica Watkins and Luke Delaney, Canadian Space Agency astronaut Joshua Kutryk and Roscosmos cosmonaut Sergey Teteryatnikov. NASA said the mission was expected to make the fastest launch-to-docking journey by a U.S. spacecraft in the stationâs history, with an approximately seven-hour, 50-minute flight.
Falcon Heavy completes the tripleheader
Space.com reported that SpaceX launched the NROL-97 reconnaissance mission for the U.S. National Reconnaissance Office aboard a Falcon Heavy from Florida at 11:54 p.m. EDT on October 1. The launch was the companyâs third in less than 13 hours, following Crew-13 and the Transporter-18 rideshare mission. The two side boosters landed less than eight minutes after liftoff, while the center booster was not recovered.
