Trading session

SpaceX stock last traded at USD 145.47 on Nasdaq at 8:00 p.m. UTC on September 28, 2026, down 2.16 percent from the previous session. The company news described below is reported separately from the stock performance.

Starship prepares for orbital missions

In an update dated September 15, 2026, SpaceX said Starship is preparing to move into an orbital-flight phase beginning with Flight 14. The company said the missions are intended to support the delivery of Starlink V3 satellites and other payloads, as well as new flight tests including an initial orbital propellant-transfer demonstration.

SpaceX said the first 13 Starship flight tests used passively safe suborbital trajectories. For initial orbital missions, the vehicle is expected to begin on a passively safe trajectory before a second burn could place it into orbit, subject to flight-controller assessments of vehicle health and mission conditions, according to the company update.

Mission design

SpaceX said the initial orbital profile includes monitoring propulsion, communications, navigation, structural and propellant-system conditions throughout the mission. The company also said Starship is designed to conduct a deorbit burn and return for an ocean splashdown or, under suitable conditions, a return to the launch site.
