Synopsys stock: Company starts $1 billion accelerated share repurchase

Synopsys stock was in focus after Synopsys, Inc. announced a $1 billion accelerated share repurchase agreement with JPMorgan Chase Bank, National Association. The company said it would receive an initial delivery of approximately 1.735 million shares, with any remaining amount to be settled by January 5, 2027. Synopsys said the final number of repurchased shares will depend on the average daily volume-weighted average share price during the repurchase period, less a discount.

Fiscal 2027 targets

At its September 30, 2026 Investor Day, Synopsys provided fiscal 2027 revenue guidance of $11.1 billion to $11.2 billion for the year ending October 31, 2027. The company said the range represents approximately 15% year-over-year growth at the midpoint. Synopsys also projected GAAP diluted earnings per share of $8.16 to $8.61 and non-GAAP diluted earnings per share of $19.04 to $19.12. Synopsys' investor-relations release said the targets were provided as of September 30, 2026.

OpenAI partnership

The same Investor Day release said Synopsys and OpenAI agreed to collaborate as preferred partners to develop and deliver GPT-Synopsys, a specialized model for chip design combining OpenAI's artificial intelligence capabilities with Synopsys' electronic design automation tools and chip-design expertise. The release also described the company's plans to expand AI-driven engineering solutions and agentic workflows.
