- Management expects festive demand to lift decorative-paint volumes in the December quarter.
- Raw-material inflation and intense competition remain the main risks for profitability.
- Asian Paints retained its full-year EBITDA margin guidance despite the volatile operating environment.
Asian Paints expects decorative-paint volume growth of 8 to 9 percent in the December quarter, supported by festive demand, according to Informist. The outlook followed the company’s September-quarter results and management commentary on October 29, 2026.
Decorative-paint volume growth was 6.4 percent in the September quarter, while gross margin stood at 40.3 percent. Consolidated net profit rose more than 7 percent year over year to INR 10.68 billion, and revenue from operations increased nearly 17 percent to INR 99.77 billion.
Pricing remains a balancing act
Management expects gross margin in the 41 to 43 percent range for the December quarter, depending on further input-cost inflation. Asian Paints has announced an additional price increase of about 3.5 percent for November after increases of 7 percent in the June quarter and nearly 5 percent in the September quarter.
The company said the operating environment could remain volatile in the second half of fiscal 2027 because of raw-material inflation, geopolitical supply constraints and intense competition. A titanium-dioxide anti-dumping duty that took effect on October 24 is another cost factor, while management intends to balance pricing with consumer demand.
Capacity and product mix support outlook
Asian Paints retained its fiscal 2027 EBITDA margin guidance of 18 to 20 percent. Management expects a better product mix as seasonal exterior-paint sales return and premium products gain traction. The first phase of its vinyl acetate ethylene facility began operations in September, with higher utilization expected to support differentiated formulations and cost efficiency.
Business model and competitive position
Asian Paints is based in Mumbai, India, and manufactures decorative and industrial paints. Its portfolio also includes waterproofing, adhesives, wall coverings and home-decor products such as modular kitchens, wardrobes, bath fittings and sanitaryware, while the group operates across 15 countries and serves consumers in more than 60 countries, according to the company’s official profile. In India, it competes with Berger Paints and Kansai Nerolac in established decorative and industrial coatings, while newer entrants such as Birla Opus are increasing competitive pressure; Asian Paints describes itself as the country’s leading paint company and has held that position since 1967.
