Cementos Argos stock is being reassessed after the company reported a 21.7 percent year-to-date EBITDA margin for the first half of 2026. In its Q2 earnings call dated August 12, 2026, Yahoo Finance reported that management retained full-year EBITDA margin guidance of 24 percent to 26 percent. The key issue is execution in the second half after scheduled plant maintenance weighed on the first half.
Margins point to second half recovery
Quarterly EBITDA reached COP 280 billion, down 5 percent year over year, while EBITDA margin was 21.2 percent, 175 basis points below the prior-year quarter. The result reflects a higher concentration of maintenance work in cement operations during the first half, according to the earnings-call transcript.
The operating mix was uneven. Cement volumes declined 7 percent year over year, but ready-mix volumes increased 15 percent, supported by Colombia. Management also reported 10.5 percent growth in local Colombian cement volumes and 15.9 percent growth in ready-mix volumes during the quarter.
Colombia offsets weaker exports
Colombia supplied the strongest operating contribution, with quarterly revenue up 4 percent and EBITDA at COP 201 billion, an increase of 13 percent year over year. Central America delivered 20.8 percent growth in cement volume and revenue, although regional EBITDA reached USD 14 million, down 19 percent because of planned maintenance in Honduras.
The company is also advancing its two-platform structure, separating Argos Materials from Argos Latam. Management said Argos Latam generated COP 296 billion of aggregated EBITDA during the quarter, while the strategic program targets more than USD 75 million of incremental organic EBITDA over the coming years.
