- Entel Digital and Red Hat are developing an open-source sovereign cloud platform for Chilean organizations.
- The planned architecture emphasizes local data residency, Chilean operations, technology portability and control over artificial-intelligence workloads.
- The initiative extends Entel's enterprise cloud strategy toward integrated network, cloud, edge and cybersecurity services.
Entel Digital announced a partnership with Red Hat to develop a sovereign cloud platform for Chilean organizations, according to G5 Noticias in a report published Friday, October 30, 2026. The project combines Entel's local infrastructure with Red Hat's open-source technology as companies reassess how critical data and artificial-intelligence systems are operated.
Local control becomes the focus
The proposed platform is built around four elements: data residency in Chile, local jurisdiction and operations, open technology that reduces dependence on a single vendor, and governance of the models and agents that process corporate information.
The technology stack will include Red Hat OpenShift, which is based on Kubernetes and supports containers and virtual machines on one platform. Entel Digital said the approach is intended to give customers greater portability for workloads while retaining control over the environment in which their data is handled.
Cloud strategy moves toward integration
Entel has operated cloud platforms in Chile since 2012. The new offering follows earlier on-demand, self-service and hybrid-cloud services and adds an open-source option to the enterprise portfolio.
The proposed model links network, cloud and edge infrastructure under one provider. It also incorporates cybersecurity through Entel's CyberSOC and its cyber-intelligence center, according to the report. The company said the roadmap could eventually extend sovereignty toward the network edge, where 5G can process data closer to where it is generated.
Entel's operating profile
Entel Digital provides digital solutions for businesses, while Entel operates telecommunications and cloud infrastructure in Chile. Its enterprise offer spans connectivity, cloud and cybersecurity, with the new platform aimed at organizations that need local control and flexibility for critical workloads. Red Hat contributes the open-source enterprise software layer through OpenShift, giving the partnership a local infrastructure and global technology split.
