- First Securities Investment Trust is planned to absorb three peers in a transaction requiring regulatory approval.
- The combined manager is intended to expand products, use distribution networks more efficiently and reduce operating costs.
- The planned closing date is January 1, 2028, while the investment trust expects assets under management of about NT$500 billion.
First Financial Holding is at the center of a planned consolidation of four Taiwan investment-trust businesses. The boards approved the transaction on October 22, according to Taipei Times. First Securities Investment Trust, First Financial's subsidiary, would remain as the surviving entity.

Scale is central to the transaction
The planned merger would bring together First Securities Investment Trust, Mega International Investment Trust, Taiwan Cooperative Securities Investment Trust and Hua Nan Investment Trust. The transaction requires regulatory approval and is planned for January 1, 2028.
The combined business is expected to pool technology, distribution networks and investment products. Management said the broader platform should support lower operating costs and improve the range of products available to investors, including offerings focused on retirement planning, sustainable investment, overseas allocation and wealthy clients.
The surviving investment trust is expected to manage about 500 billion TWD in assets, including public funds and discretionary mandates. The companies also set growth targets of 15 percent annually for public-fund assets and 10 percent for discretionary mandates.
First Financial Holding is a Taiwan-based financial holding group with a banking and investment-management presence, while this transaction specifically expands its investment-trust platform. In the merger, First Securities Investment Trust is positioned as the larger and stronger operating participant among the four asset managers. Mega Financial Holdings, Taiwan Cooperative Financial Holding and Hua Nan Financial Holdings are the other parent groups involved, giving First Financial a regional peer set in Taiwan's state-linked financial sector.
