Gamuda, through a joint venture with Taiwan-based MiTAC Information Technology, secured a contract on October 14, 2026, for the design and construction of systems and trackwork for the Keelung Mass Rapid Transit project. The award was made by the Department of Rapid Transit Systems under the New Taipei City Government, according to Gamuda Berhad.
The contract is worth TWD 29.22 billion, equivalent to MYR 3.72 billion in the company announcement. Gamuda owns 72.84 percent of the joint venture, giving it an attributable share of approximately MYR 2.71 billion, while MiTAC holds the remaining 27.16 percent.
Rail scope and earnings contribution
The project covers a 15.6-kilometer alignment serving 13 stations across Taipei City, New Taipei City and Keelung City. The work includes trackwork, rolling stock, power supply, signalling, platform screen doors, communications, central monitoring, automated fare collection and depot maintenance equipment.
Construction is scheduled to run for 2,820 days, or about 7.7 years. Gamuda said the project forms part of the designated additional works to the Xizhi-Donghu MRT project, which it secured in October 2024.
The company expects the award to contribute positively to group revenue and earnings from the fiscal year ending July 31, 2027, until project completion. The contract therefore adds multi-year execution visibility to Gamuda's rail infrastructure business, although the timing of revenue and earnings will depend on project progress.
