Genting Singapore plans to raise up to SGD 1.63 billion through a proposed rights issue, according to The Edge Malaysia. The report was published on Friday, October 30, 2026, after the company said in a Singapore Exchange statement that it would offer up to 2.04 billion new shares at SGD 0.80 each.

Capital raising supports strategic flexibility

The offer is structured at one rights share for every five existing shares. Genting Singapore said the issue is intended to strengthen the group's balance sheet, improve financial flexibility and support future business expansion.

About 60 percent of the net proceeds is planned for future acquisitions, investments, joint ventures, strategic collaborations or alliances related to leisure, hospitality and gaming. The remaining 40 percent is intended for working capital, including repayment of bank borrowings.

The proposed issue price represents a discount of about 32.8 percent to the SGD 1.19 closing price on September 8, the last market day before the announcement, and about 28.9 percent to the theoretical ex-rights price of SGD 1.125. Those reference prices relate to the company's Singapore listing and are not a current quote.

Expansion remains the central investment case

Genting Singapore is also progressing with RWS 2.0, an expansion of Resorts World Sentosa. An iGamingToday report citing CreditSights said the project could require additional debt funding from 2027 as the operator preserves cash for the redevelopment. The report said RWS 2.0 includes new luxury hotels, casino upgrades, Universal Studios Singapore improvements and additional retail, dining and waterfront facilities.

For investors, the rights issue places capital strength and expansion execution at the center of the outlook. The immediate questions are whether the fundraising proceeds on the proposed terms and whether the redevelopment can generate returns that justify the required investment.

Integrated resort operator in Singapore

Genting Singapore operates Resorts World Sentosa, an integrated resort in Singapore covering gaming, hospitality, attractions, retail and dining. The company describes itself as a Singapore and Asian tourism operator with more than four decades of experience in gaming and integrated-resort development, as outlined on its official website. Its main Singapore rival is Marina Bay Sands, operated by Las Vegas Sands, leaving Genting Singapore as the other major integrated-resort operator in the country's casino duopoly. Its competitive position therefore depends on attracting visitors and premium gaming customers to the Sentosa location.
