- Grupo KUO reported weaker third-quarter profitability as pressure in pork and branded foods offset industrial gains.
- Industrial operations improved, led by automotive transmissions, polymers and synthetic rubber.
- Higher logistics and input costs remain a central issue for the consumer division.
Grupo KUO reported a weaker third quarter on October 20, 2026, as pressure in its consumer businesses outweighed an industrial recovery. According to Milenio, consolidated EBITDA fell 21 percent year over year to 954 million Mexican pesos.
Consumer Division Drives the Decline
The consumer division's EBITDA dropped 52.1 percent to 569 million Mexican pesos. Weaker margins in the pork business reflected stronger competition from US imports, oversupply in Asian markets and lower selling prices. Herdez Del Fuerte also faced higher freight and ingredient costs, along with increased logistics expenses and commercial incentives in the United States.
Revenue reached 13.024 billion Mexican pesos between July and September, down 0.5 percent from the same quarter a year earlier. Pork revenue fell 15 percent, while MegaMex Foods recorded lower sales, particularly in guacamole amid weaker avocado prices. Grupo KUO posted a majority net loss of 184 million Mexican pesos, compared with a majority net profit of 60 million pesos in the third quarter of 2025.
Industrial Businesses Provide Support
The industrial segment delivered a partial counterweight. Its EBITDA improved from a loss of 3 million Mexican pesos to 393 million pesos, while revenue grew 18 percent. Automotive transmissions increased 24 percent, synthetic rubber advanced 17 percent and polymers rose 14 percent. Polymer margins were nevertheless pressured by unfavorable inventory adjustments and crude-oil price volatility.
Broader developments across Mexican equities are covered in Current market reports.
The results put consumer margins, logistics costs and pork-market pricing at the center of the investment discussion, while the industrial portfolio offers an important counterbalance. The contrasting segment performance means that future earnings will depend on whether industrial momentum can offset continued pressure in food and pork operations.
