GTCO proposes NGN 1.00 dividend for Guaranty Trust Holding Company stock

Dividend follows resilient earnings

The proposed distribution followed audited results for the six months ended June 30, 2026. According to Investegate, profit before tax rose 0.40 percent from NGN 600.90 billion in the first half of 2025, even as a NGN 46.21 billion fair value loss weighed on earnings.

The payout provides a direct shareholder-return angle, but the bottom line was weaker. Profit after tax declined 7.80 percent to NGN 414.20 billion from NGN 449.01 billion in the first half of 2025, while earnings per share fell to NGN 11.18 from NGN 13.59.

Interest income offsets pressure

GTCO's interest income increased 7.50 percent to NGN 873.40 billion in the first half of 2026 from NGN 812.40 billion a year earlier. Non-funded income moved in the opposite direction, falling 10.10 percent to NGN 234.10 billion from NGN 260.30 billion, according to Investegate.

The balance sheet expanded during the period. Total assets reached NGN 18.616 trillion, up 4.80 percent from NGN 17.761 trillion at December 31, 2025, while deposit liabilities increased 10.30 percent to NGN 14.194 trillion.
