iM Financial reported a weaker third quarter on October 27, 2026, as growth at its core banking unit did not fully offset pressure elsewhere in the group. Seoul Economic Daily reported that net profit attributable to controlling shareholders fell to KRW 120.7 billion from KRW 122.4 billion a year earlier.

Bank growth offsets part of decline

For the first nine months of 2026, group net profit fell 3.6% to KRW 416.3 billion, while cumulative operating profit declined 4.1% to KRW 540.2 billion. At the same time, loan assets increased 7.6% from the end of 2025, helping lift nine-month interest income by 5.6%.

iM Bank, the group's core subsidiary, posted third-quarter net profit of KRW 115.8 billion, up 5.1% year over year. Corporate loans grew 10.8% through the end of September, while provisions for credit losses at the bank fell 11.8%. The improvement at the bank was not sufficient to offset weaker results elsewhere in the group.

Capital and shareholder returns

The group completed a KRW 30 billion share buyback announced in July. The repurchased shares represent 1.1% of total shares outstanding and are scheduled to be canceled within one month. iM Capital reported nine-month profit growth of 20%, while iM Securities earned KRW 72.2 billion, up 10.4% year over year.

For investors, the results present a mixed picture: lending growth and lower credit-loss provisions supported recurring banking income, but the group-level profit decline shows that non-bank earnings and other income remain important variables. The CET1 ratio reached a record 12.39%, up 0.12 percentage points from the previous quarter.
