Inchcape's 2026 outlook has weakened after further underperformance in Australia, although the group reported resilient third-quarter trading elsewhere. In its Q3 2026 trading update dated October 22, the company said it now expects a fiscal-year operating margin of about 5.5 percent, compared with guidance of about 6 percent previously.

Australia remains the main drag

Inchcape said Australian volumes fell 50 percent in the third quarter, while the broader Asia-Pacific region declined 37 percent. The company attributed the pressure to a rapid shift toward new-energy vehicles and deteriorating competitiveness at its key original-equipment-manufacturer partner.

Management said it is taking further action alongside existing restructuring measures. The planned response includes a comprehensive review of the product range and positioning with the brand partner, as well as portfolio optimisation that includes the mutually agreed exit of the Deepal contract.

Growth continues in other regions

The regional picture was stronger outside Asia-Pacific. Americas volumes increased 10 percent, while Europe and Africa volumes rose 21 percent, including 16 percent organic volume growth. Across the group, volumes increased 3 percent against total-industry volume growth of 9 percent, organic revenue growth was 1 percent and reported revenue reached 2.5 billion pounds.

Inchcape kept its expectation for adjusted earnings-per-share growth of about 10 percent in fiscal 2026, supported by continued momentum in the Americas and Europe and Africa. It also maintained its medium-term ambition of more than 10 percent annual adjusted EPS growth through 2030 and expects free-cash-flow conversion above 100 percent.
