- Third-quarter revenue fell 46 percent year over year to KRW 69.1 billion.
- The operating loss widened to KRW 26.3 billion as new releases lagged and established game revenue declined.
- Management expects new titles, including Path of Exile 2 and OdinQ, to support results from the fourth quarter.
Kakao Games reported a wider operating loss for the third quarter on November 4, 2026, as weaker sales from existing games and a gap between major releases weighed on its business. Revenue fell 46 percent year over year to KRW 69.1 billion, while the operating loss widened to KRW 26.3 billion, according to Korea Economic Daily.
Existing Titles Lose Momentum
PC online game revenue declined 57 percent year over year to KRW 18.5 billion. Mobile game revenue fell about 40 percent to KRW 50.6 billion, showing weakness across both reported operating segments.
The company attributed the pressure to slower revenue from established intellectual property and the absence of a steady flow of new releases. The recently launched MMORPG Dokkaebi's World reached the top spot in Google Play sales, but its contribution is expected to appear mainly in fourth-quarter results.
New Releases Set The Next Test
Kakao Games plans to release the PC action game Path of Exile 2 on December 12. It also plans to introduce the MMORPG OdinQ: Valkyrie's Call in January, with a simultaneous launch planned for South Korea, Taiwan and Japan.
The company is also preparing titles including God Save Birmingham, ArcheAge S: Strait of Freedom and Guardian Maiden. The pipeline gives investors a clear near-term focus: whether new releases can offset the decline in established game franchises and improve operating leverage.
Kakao Games' Business Position
Kakao Games develops, publishes and operates games across PC online and mobile platforms, with its current pipeline aimed at Korean and wider Asian markets. Its portfolio includes multiplayer online games, action titles, role-playing games and other genre-based intellectual property. The company is also expanding through the acquisition of Me2on and investments in game and artificial-intelligence infrastructure businesses.
