KCC drew orders worth 1.38 trillion Korean won for a planned 200 billion Korean won bond issue on Tuesday, October 27, according to Seoul Economic Daily. The institutional order book therefore reached about seven times the target, highlighting access to credit markets for the AA- rated issuer with a stable outlook.

Strong demand across maturities

The two-year tranche attracted 560 billion Korean won against an 80 billion target, while the three-year tranche received 820 billion against a 120 billion target. Both tranches were priced at yields 9 basis points below the benchmark for comparable maturities, according to the report.

KCC plans to use the proceeds to refinance 200 billion Korean won of short-term notes and commercial paper maturing in stages from November. The company had left open the possibility of increasing the offering to as much as 400 billion Korean won, depending on demand.

Refinancing shapes the outlook

The bond response gives KCC room to address near-term maturities through public debt markets. For investors, the transaction links the positive funding response to balance-sheet management rather than to a change in operating forecasts. The report also names KB Securities, NH Investment & Securities, Shinhan Securities, Korea Investment & Securities, Kiwoom Securities and Samsung Securities as lead managers.

KCC serves industrial markets

KCC is headquartered in Seoul and makes paints, building materials, insulation, windows and advanced organic and inorganic materials for construction, ships, plants, automobiles, electronics and other industrial sectors, according to its official website. In South Korean architectural glass and building materials, Nexdigm identifies Hanwha Solutions and LX Hausys as competitors. KCC is positioned as a diversified domestic materials producer, while Hanwha Solutions emphasizes high-performance glass and coatings and LX Hausys focuses on windows, facade systems and related building products. That mix leaves KCC exposed to construction and industrial demand but gives it a broader product base than a single-category supplier.
