- Operating profit increased as aircraft deliveries and the shift from development to mass production supported the quarter.
- Exports of complete aircraft and aerostructures strengthened the revenue mix.
- KAI expects KF-21, LAH and FA-50 programs to support fourth-quarter growth.
Korea Aerospace Industries reported a sharp split in its third-quarter performance on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Yonhap News Agency reported that net profit for the July-to-September period fell 51.3 percent from a year earlier to 19 billion won, while sales rose 51.6 percent to 1.06 trillion won.
Sales growth masks profit pressure
Operating profit increased 31.9 percent year on year to 79.4 billion won. The company attributed the improvement to strong aircraft exports and the transition of development programs into mass production, but the fall in net profit shows that higher sales did not translate into comparable bottom-line growth.
Domestic sales rose 83 percent to 493.7 billion won, helped by deliveries under the KF-21 fighter program for the South Korean Air Force. Deliveries of the Light Armed Helicopter are expected to resume in the fourth quarter after engine-supply delays.
Exports support the next quarter
Aircraft export revenue rose 78 percent to 291.4 billion won, supported by FA-50 programs in Malaysia, Poland and the Philippines and KT-series trainer aircraft for Indonesia. Aerostructures revenue reached 262.8 billion won as overseas demand remained solid.
KAI's order backlog stood at 27.3 trillion won at the end of September. Management expects fourth-quarter growth to benefit from increased KF-21 production, renewed light-helicopter deliveries and FA-50 deliveries to Malaysia.
