Kumho Tire reported consolidated third-quarter sales of 1.24 trillion Korean won and operating profit of 130.5 billion Korean won on Thursday, October 29, according to The Herald Business. Operating profit margin reached 10.5 percent as demand in North America and Europe and sales of large-diameter and electric vehicle tires supported the business.

Higher-Value Tires Support Growth

Quarterly sales remained above 1 trillion Korean won for the 12th consecutive quarter, a run that began in the fourth quarter of 2023. Kumho Tire said original equipment supplies grew particularly in North America and Europe, while replacement tire sales also strengthened.

Tires measuring at least 18 inches accounted for 47.0 percent of cumulative sales volume through the third quarter, matching the company's full-year target. Electric vehicle tires represented 24.6 percent of global original equipment sales.

Targets And Capacity Expansion

Kumho Tire is targeting full-year sales of 5.1 trillion Korean won, a 47 percent share for large-diameter tires and a 30 percent share for electric vehicle original-equipment supply. The large-diameter target has already been reached, while the company said the other targets remain on track.

Management also pointed to ongoing cost pressure from United States tariffs and conflicts in the Middle East. The company plans factories in Hampyeong and Europe as it builds a production network spanning South Korea, Europe and North America.
