LG Innotek stock faces a sharp profit squeeze despite record third-quarter sales. Substrate expansion remains central to its longer-term strategy.

Sales growth meets margin pressure

  • Camera-module shipments and semiconductor-substrate demand lifted quarterly sales.
  • Currency movements between material purchases and product shipments weighed on profitability.
  • LG Innotek plans to expand high-value semiconductor substrate capacity for AI and server applications.

LG Innotek reported record third-quarter sales on October 27, 2026, but profitability weakened sharply as currency movements increased pressure on costs. The Herald Business reported that revenue rose 18.6% year on year to KRW 6.37 trillion, while operating profit dropped 53.4% to KRW 94.8 billion.

Strong demand, weaker profitability

Expanded shipments of mobile camera modules for new customer models supported the sales increase. Demand also grew for high-value semiconductor substrates, including RF-SiP, FC-CSP and FC-BGA products.

The company said the sharp decline in the won-dollar exchange rate between raw-material purchases and finished-product shipments weighed on operating profit. Optical Solutions generated sales of KRW 5.4 trillion, helped by mobile and automotive camera demand, while Package Solutions revenue reached KRW 481.8 billion and Mobility Solutions revenue came to KRW 481.1 billion.

Substrates define the next phase

LG Innotek is pursuing capacity expansion for FC-BGA and other high-value substrates. The company plans to enter high-layer, large-area substrate markets for AI accelerators and servers in stages by 2028, while extending FC-CSP applications beyond mobile processors.

Analysts will focus on whether stronger volumes can translate into margin recovery as currency effects, customer pricing and smartphone demand continue to shape earnings. The October results show that sales growth alone did not prevent a substantial decline in quarterly operating profit.
