Minsur seeks USD 9.70 million refinery upgrade: what it means for Minsur stock
Published on 10/01/2026 at 19:36 | Editorial responsibility: Rafael Müller, Editor-in-Chief AD HOC NEWSMinsur (PEP795401004) submitted 21 proposed modifications to its Pisco tin refinery, backed by USD 9.70 million, according to Discovery Alert on September 11, 2026. The project targets storage, recovery and safety constraints after the facility processed 87,527 tonnes of tin concentrate in 2025.
Upgrade targets Pisco bottleneck
The largest proposed change is a 20 percent enlargement of the on-site slag deposit. Discovery Alert reports that the deposit is approaching its safe storage limit, making the modification directly relevant to the refinery's ability to sustain high throughput.
The program also includes a vacuum furnace for recirculating materials, co-processing of large bags in the Ausmelt furnaces and commercial sales of used refractory bricks. These measures connect the capital program to metal recovery as well as to waste handling.
Production remains the key measure
Pisco produced 8,314 tonnes of refined tin in the first quarter of 2026 and 7,034 tonnes in the second quarter of 2026, according to Discovery Alert. The source attributes the lower second-quarter output to a longer annual maintenance window of 11.5 days in 2026 versus 6.5 days in 2024.
The operating comparison matters because the 2025 record included 32,981 tonnes of refined tin, a 6.60 percent increase from the prior year. The proposed work is therefore aimed at protecting an established production base rather than adding a new greenfield refinery.
Quarterly figures show higher sales
Investing.com lists Minsur's latest reported quarter with sales of USD 851.267 million, net income of USD 260.206 million and earnings per share of USD 0.09, released on August 15, 2026.
Sales increased from USD 662.750 million in the previous quarter, a 28.45 percent rise, while net income increased from USD 162.279 million. The figures give the refinery project a financial context: the proposed capital remains tied to an operation generating substantial quarterly revenue and profit.
Dividend yield adds market context
Minsur stock carried a 16.40 percent dividend yield on Lima trading data dated September 29, 2026. The company is listed on the Lima Stock Exchange under ticker MINSURI1, while its business spans tin, copper and gold mining as well as related materials activities.
