Muangthai Capital secured a USD 60 million loan from FinDev Canada on October 16, 2026, to expand formal financing for women-owned micro, small and medium-sized businesses in rural Thailand. FinDev Canada said the loan is its first direct financing for a Thai non-bank financial institution.
Funding targets underserved borrowers
The loan is additional to a USD 200 million syndicated facility co-led by the Asian Development Bank and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation. FinDev Canada said all of its proceeds will support access to formal financial services for rural women-owned enterprises.
Muangthai Capital said the partnership will strengthen its ability to serve underserved customers nationwide. FinDev Canada noted that 90 percent of the lender's customers are located in rural areas, giving the company an established distribution base for the targeted financing.
Thai lending platform broadens reach
Muangthai Capital offers secured and unsecured loans to individuals and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises. Its products include vehicle title loans, land title deed loans, personal loans, nano finance, motorcycle hire purchase and buy now pay later services.
The company operates across Thailand through a branch network covering all 77 provinces. Its rural focus gives it a specialized position in inclusive finance, while the new partnership adds development-finance support to its existing lending model.
