Naver stock expands its AI strategy into Mexico
Published on 09/29/2026 at 14:14 | Editorial responsibility: Rafael Müller, Editor-in-Chief AD HOC NEWSNaver (ISIN KR7035420009) is pursuing public-sector AI and infrastructure cooperation in Mexico, where more than 70 percent of data center infrastructure is concentrated in Queretaro. NAVER said on September 29, 2026, that its executives had met Mexican government and technology officials during a September 24-25 delegation visit.
Mexico becomes an AI test market
Chief Executive Choi Soo-yeon presented Naver's public-sector AI capabilities, sovereign AI strategy and planned AI factory with Nvidia and Brookfield Asset Management. The discussions covered a national high-performance computing and AI cluster and potential cooperation with Mexico's economy and science ministries.
The company is also discussing a digital twin pilot for two cities in Queretaro. As Aju Press reported on September 29, 2026, the proposal would extend Naver's overseas AI push beyond its established Asian markets and follow a similar AI factory proposal made in France on September 8.
Revenue grows as margins narrow
Naver's operating profile gives the expansion effort a tougher financial backdrop. In Q2 2026, revenue reached KRW 3.39 trillion, up 16.2 percent from the prior-year quarter, while operating profit was KRW 520.3 billion and net income was KRW 704.3 billion, according to ATS View.
The Q2 operating margin was 15.4 percent, below the 16.7 percent reported for Q1 2026. That comparison shows why overseas AI projects must eventually add commercial scale while Naver absorbs infrastructure and content investment.
KRW 29.1 trillion market value
Naver's primary-market snapshot last stood at KRW 194,800 on the Korea Exchange at 3:30 p.m. KST on September 29, 2026. Market capitalization was KRW 29.1 trillion on that date, and the 52-week range was KRW 181,100 to KRW 304,000.
