- Plumas Bancorp said profitability benefited from stronger net interest income and a sharply lower credit-loss provision.
- Management attributed additional tax support to an investment in green energy tax credits.
- The bank reported a largely variable-rate loan portfolio and higher nonperforming assets than a year earlier.
Plumas Bancorp reported record third-quarter earnings on October 21, 2026, with the result supported by higher net interest income and a much smaller credit-loss provision. The figures were carried by Yahoo Finance from a GlobeNewswire release.
Lower provisions lift quarterly result
Net income reached 11.4 million US dollars for the three months ended September 30, compared with 5.1 million US dollars in the year-earlier quarter. Diluted earnings per share rose to 1.61 US dollars from 0.73 US dollars.
Net interest income increased to 26.5 million US dollars from 25.2 million US dollars. The provision for credit losses fell to 150,000 US dollars from 5.4 million US dollars a year earlier. The release said the earlier comparison included a Day 1 credit-loss provision connected with the Cornerstone Community Bancorp acquisition.
Tax credits add to earnings support
Non-interest income increased to 2.8 million US dollars, while non-interest expense was broadly unchanged at 15.1 million US dollars. Plumas Bancorp also said it purchased 14.5 million US dollars of green energy tax credits, reducing its income-tax provision by 1.2 million US dollars.
The bank's net interest margin widened to 5.05% from 4.83%. At the end of September, approximately 79% of the loan portfolio was variable rate, leaving the reported loan yield exposed to future changes in benchmark rates. Management also said that the lower-yielding indirect auto portfolio continued to run off.
Asset quality remains an investor focus
Nonperforming assets increased to 21.3 million US dollars from 15.2 million US dollars a year earlier, and nonperforming loans reached 21.1 million US dollars. The allowance for credit losses stood at 19.7 million US dollars, or 1.32% of total loans.
For the first nine months, net income was 31.1 million US dollars, compared with 18.6 million US dollars in the corresponding period of 2025. Those year-to-date comparisons reflect a full period of combined operations in 2026 after the Cornerstone acquisition, while the prior-year period included only part of the combined business.
