- Samsung SDS reported third-quarter revenue growth of 11.2 percent and operating-profit growth of 3.7 percent year over year.
- Cloud revenue rose 18 percent, while logistics revenue increased 16 percent as air and ocean cargo volumes and freight rates improved.
- The company is expanding its artificial-intelligence infrastructure, cybersecurity and robotics businesses.
Samsung SDS reported stronger third-quarter sales on October 30, as cloud services and logistics offset a weaker net-income performance. The company said revenue reached 3.7725 trillion Korean won, up 11.2 percent from a year earlier, while operating profit rose 3.7 percent to 241 billion won.
The preliminary results were published in the Samsung SDS company announcement. Net income declined during the quarter, with Yonhap reporting that earnings fell short of the average analyst estimate, adding a counterpoint to the growth in sales and operating profit.
Cloud growth leads technology services
Revenue from IT services increased 5.3 percent to 1.681 trillion won. Cloud revenue climbed 18 percent to 796.1 billion won, supported by demand for Samsung Cloud Platform services, GPU-as-a-service capacity and artificial-intelligence transformation projects.
The company said its cloud service provider business grew 15 percent, while managed services increased 25 percent. Financial-sector AI projects, shipbuilding enterprise-resource-planning work and wider use of global AI services contributed to the managed-services expansion.
Logistics adds a second growth engine
Logistics revenue rose 16 percent to 2.0915 trillion won. Higher air and ocean cargo volumes and freight rates supported the division, while Samsung SDS is also strengthening its airfreight position through the acquisition of Woojung Air.
Management is targeting further expansion in artificial-intelligence infrastructure. Samsung SDS was selected as the preferred bidder for a design-build-operate data-center project exceeding 200 megawatts and plans to develop additional data-center business, including colocation.
Samsung SDS broadens its competitive reach
Samsung SDS provides IT consulting, systems integration, cloud services and logistics planning and execution solutions. It serves Samsung affiliates and external enterprise customers, with its headquarters in Seoul, South Korea. In South Korea's enterprise technology market, it competes with broader IT-service groups such as LG CNS and POSCO DX, while its data-center and AI infrastructure activities also face international competition from companies including Huawei.
