Nuveen completed its acquisition of Schroders on October 1, 2026, creating an asset manager with 2.6 trillion US dollars in assets under management. Private Banker International reported that the combined firm serves institutional and wealth clients across more than 40 markets.

Schroders shares were officially delisted from the London Stock Exchange on October 2, ending their public-market trading after the transaction closed. The acquisition was first announced in February and brings the UK-based investment manager into the TIAA-owned Nuveen group.

Integration sets the next phase

Schroders is expected to operate separately within Nuveen for the next 12 to 18 months. Group Chief Executive Richard Oldfield will lead the Schroders business and report to Nuveen Chief Executive William Huffman while integration planning continues.

The combined group plans to organise its 400 billion US dollar private-markets platform by asset class. Existing investment teams across asset and wealth management are expected to remain in place for at least 12 to 18 months after completion.

London will serve as the combined firm's headquarters outside the United States and remain its largest office. Schroders' wealth-management businesses, including Cazenove Capital, are part of the group's continuing platform.

Schroders' business and market role

Schroders is a UK-based asset and wealth manager with activities spanning active equities, active fixed income, private markets and wealth services. Its wealth offering serves high-net-worth clients, family offices and financial advisers, while Cazenove Capital provides a key wealth-management brand. The business now operates as a specialist investment platform within the larger Nuveen group, with London retaining a central role outside the US.
