Costs Pressure Near-Term Earnings
Management expects fourth-quarter adjusted earnings per share of 1.10 to 1.20 US dollars and full-year adjusted earnings per share of 3.94 to 4.04 US dollars. The outlook reflects lower funeral volumes than previously anticipated and continued pressure from healthcare, selling compensation, advertising and marketing costs.
Operating cash flow remained a support for the business. Net cash provided by operating activities increased 18 percent year over year to 296.8 million US dollars in the quarter, while the company maintained full-year adjusted operating cash flow guidance of 1.055 billion to 1.115 billion US dollars.
Preneed Sales Build Backlog
Comparable funeral preneed sales production increased 6 percent and comparable cemetery preneed sales production rose 5 percent. Management said the investment in preneed sales is weighing on near-term costs but should support revenue and earnings as related contracts are recognized in future periods.
Service Corporation International provides funeral, cemetery and cremation services, as well as advance final-arrangement planning, across the United States, Canada, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. The Houston-based company said it operated 1,491 funeral service locations and 506 cemeteries as of September 30, 2026.
