Sharp stock falls 0.75 percent as guidance points to lower profit
Published on 10/07/2026 at 07:20 | Editorial responsibility: Rafael Müller, Editor-in-Chief AD HOC NEWSSharp stock (ISIN JP3359600008) was trading at JPY 631.70 on the Tokyo Stock Exchange at 2:03 p.m. JST on October 7, 2026, down 0.75 percent from the prior close. The latest full-year figures show a sharper split between improving profitability and a shrinking top line.
Profit recovery meets lower sales
According to Investalk in its September 18, 2026 review of Sharp's fiscal 2026 results, revenue fell 12.4 percent to JPY 1.892811 trillion for the year ended March 31, 2026. Operating profit rose 77.6 percent to JPY 48.565 billion, while net income increased 31.4 percent to JPY 47.434 billion.
The comparison matters because the profit improvement came alongside lower sales. Sharp's operating margin therefore improved from roughly 1.3 percent in fiscal 2025 to 2.6 percent in fiscal 2026, based on the reported revenue and operating profit figures.
Guidance keeps pressure visible
The same Investalk review says Sharp's fiscal 2027 guidance calls for revenue of JPY 1.77 trillion, down 6.5 percent from fiscal 2026, and net income of JPY 42.0 billion, down 11.5 percent. Operating profit is forecast at JPY 49.0 billion, a 0.9 percent increase.
That mix leaves investors weighing the quality of the turnaround. Profitability is improving, but the guidance still assumes another year of falling revenue and lower net income, making growth outside the established electronics portfolio important to the next phase.
AI servers add a new growth line
Sharp began accepting orders for NVIDIA-based AI servers in Japan on September 15, 2026. As Marketscreener reported, the first product targets corporations, local governments, research institutions and data center operators, with a larger NVIDIA HGX system planned for fiscal 2027.
The initiative gives Sharp a concrete route into AI infrastructure, but the company has not disclosed a sales contribution in the cited announcement. For investors, the key test is whether the new business can offset the revenue pressure already visible in the fiscal 2027 outlook.
Sharp stock stays below its yearly high
Sharp stock was trading at JPY 631.70 on October 7, 2026, with a 52-week range of JPY 534.40 to JPY 905.00 and market capitalization of JPY 410.2 billion. Trading volume stood at 2,154,800 shares, keeping the session move in view as the market weighs stronger margins against weaker guidance.
