Sotetsu Holdings is linked to a new autonomous transport project in Japan. On October 15, 2026, Sotetsu Bus, NTT Docomo Business and the city of Ebina in Kanagawa signed an agreement covering trials aimed at Level 4 autonomous driving, Telecompaper reported.
Autonomous transport moves toward testing
The agreement extends beyond vehicle testing. It also covers deployment, operating infrastructure, public engagement and the development of a sustainable business model for automated public transport.
For Sotetsu, the project places its bus operations in a technology-led mobility initiative. The next phase is expected to show how autonomous services could be integrated into local public transport, although the agreement itself does not establish a commercial launch date.
Sotetsu combines mobility businesses
Sotetsu operates railway and bus services and also has hotel and real-estate activities in Japan, according to the Sotetsu Group website. Its business base is centered on transport and services connected with daily life in the Yokohama area. The company therefore combines regional mobility operations with hospitality and property businesses.
