Key Q2 growth signals

  • Revenue rose 14 percent year over year to INR 56.61 billion in the September quarter.
  • Growth businesses expanded 40 percent and reached 38 percent of the India business.
  • Flat India tea volumes left salt, newer categories and distribution gains carrying more of the growth burden.

Tata Consumer Products reported a broad-based second-quarter expansion on October 26, with revenue from operations rising 14 percent year over year to INR 56.61 billion for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. The company said consolidated EBITDA increased 18 percent to INR 7.94 billion, while group net profit rose 16 percent to INR 4.70 billion. The figures were published in the company’s quarterly results release.

Growth shifts toward newer categories

India branded business underlying volume growth reached 11 percent, led by salt. Salt revenue grew 15 percent, while Tata Sampann revenue increased 57 percent and the ready-to-drink business grew 47 percent. The company said growth businesses, including Tata Sampann, ready-to-drink products, Capital Foods and Organic India, expanded 40 percent and represented 38 percent of the India business.

The portfolio shift helped offset weaker conditions in core tea. India tea volumes were flat amid subdued category demand, and revenue declined marginally after pricing actions narrowed the gap between volume and value growth. Capital Foods and Organic India posted combined revenue growth of 15 percent, although export shipping disruption affected the performance.

International and retail momentum

International business revenue increased 7 percent, or declined 2 percent in constant currency, against a high comparison base. Tata Starbucks revenue rose 15 percent, supported by strong same-store sales growth, and ended the quarter with 505 stores across 81 Indian cities. Tata Consumer also launched 22 products during the quarter across health and wellness, convenience and premiumisation categories.

Business model and competitive position

Tata Consumer Products brings the Tata Group’s food and beverage interests together, selling tea, coffee, water, ready-to-drink beverages, salt, pulses, spices, ready-to-cook and ready-to-eat products, cereals, snacks and mini meals in India and international markets. The company combines established beverage and staple brands with newer foods, wellness products and an out-of-home retail business. In India’s FMCG market, Credence Research places Tata Consumer alongside larger diversified groups such as Hindustan Unilever and ITC, while Nestle India is a major packaged-food and beverage rival. Tata Consumer is more focused on food and beverages than those broader groups and is using growth categories to widen its position beyond tea and salt.
