Xero stock faces a lower Citi target at AUD 91.55
Published on 10/08/2026 at 04:52 | Editorial responsibility: Rafael Müller, Editor-in-Chief AD HOC NEWSXero (NZXROE0001S2) stock closed at AUD 56.10 on the ASX on October 6, 2026, up 0.70 percent from AUD 55.71. The latest analyst move puts valuation and the November results firmly at the center of the debate.
Citi lowers its target
As FNArena reports on October 8, 2026, Citi cut its Xero target to AUD 91.55 and retained a Buy rating. The target stands 63.2 percent above the October 6 closing price.
FNArena also said Citi opened a 90-day Upside Catalyst Watch ahead of Xero's first-half results. The broker cited a 6 percent free cash flow yield and pointed to possible pressure from a first-half earnings miss, AI disruption and weaker software valuations.
Targets remain above the stock
A separate Motley Fool Australia report said CMC Invest counted three Xero analyst ratings in the prior three months. Two were Buy ratings and one was a Hold, producing an average target of AUD 106.81.
That average target is 90.4 percent above AUD 56.10. The gap is wider than Citi's revised target, so the market is still demanding proof that payments, payroll and artificial intelligence can support growth without extending cost pressure.
FY26 growth meets integration costs
Motley Fool Australia reported that Xero's FY26 operating revenue increased 31 percent to NZD 2.75 billion, while its customer base rose 11 percent to 4.92 million. Adjusted EBITDA increased 18 percent to NZD 757 million, although Melio-related costs reduced net profit.
The operating picture therefore has two distinct signals. Customer and revenue expansion remain measurable, while the lower profit outcome makes margin delivery a key test for the next report.
Stock remains below its yearly high
Xero's October 6 session range was AUD 55.58 to AUD 56.80, while the 52-week range ran from AUD 55.09 to AUD 157.96. At AUD 56.10, the stock was 64.5 percent below its 52-week high, with a market capitalization of AUD 9.9 billion.
Xero's investor calendar lists November 12, 2026, for FY27 half-year results to September 30, 2026, according to Xero. That release will provide the next quantified test of the earnings concerns behind Citi's target cut.
