Youngone Corporation has secured the return of about KRW 8.8 billion after an arbitration ruling resolved a long-running dispute over its acquisition of Swiss sports brand Scott. The International Chamber of Commerce tribunal ruled on October 19 that Youngone did not have to pay the remaining 25 percent of the acquisition price to former Scott shareholder Beat Zaugg, The Korea Herald reported on October 28.
The ruling closes a dispute that began with a 2015 shareholders' agreement. Youngone later exercised a call option after the tribunal found that Zaugg had breached the agreement. In December 2025, Youngone acquired an additional 5.84 million Scott shares, lifting its holding to 12.09 million shares, or 96.71 percent.
Scott recovery becomes the next test
The escrow refund reduces the final acquisition cost and removes a legal uncertainty around the transaction. The financial benefit is clear, but the next operating challenge is Scott's performance: Youngone said it would now concentrate on stabilizing the brand and improving profitability.
For investors, the development separates ownership execution from operating recovery. Youngone has strengthened control of Scott, while the brand still needs to convert that control into better earnings. The arbitration outcome therefore improves transaction certainty but does not by itself establish a change in Scott's underlying demand or margins.
