A significant portfolio transformation has taken place at the Invesco S&P SmallCap Health Care ETF. The fund’s latest quarterly rebalancing has introduced a notable new leader to its holdings, highlighting the fluid nature of the small-cap healthcare sector.

New Leadership from a Former Large-Cap Stock

The catalyst for this shift was the departure of Molina Healthcare from the S&P 500 index. Following a reduction in its market capitalization to approximately $7.3 billion, the company was moved to the S&P SmallCap 600. As of March 23, it has been integrated into the small-cap investment universe.

This change had an immediate impact on the ETF’s composition. Molina Healthcare now commands a weighting of roughly 4.41%, instantly making it one of the fund's largest positions. It joins other key holdings such as Krystal Biotech and Glaukos Corp in driving the portfolio's performance. Collectively, the ten largest positions account for nearly one-third of the fund's total assets.

Dividend Payment and Fund Dynamics

Alongside these structural changes, a quarterly dividend distribution is scheduled for March 27. The payout is set at $0.0003 per share. The ex-dividend date has already passed, having occurred on the previous Monday, which means new buyers purchasing shares now will not be eligible for this payment.

The rebalancing underscores how index composition changes can rapidly alter the exposure and risk profile of exchange-traded funds that track them, offering investors a refreshed look at the small-cap healthcare landscape.
