Adidas has unveiled its final World Cup collection bearing its iconic three stripes, launching at a time when its share price is languishing near multi-year lows. The complete away kit collection for the FIFA World Cup 2026 hit the market on March 20. The German national team jersey debuted during the recent international match against Switzerland. This release carries particular symbolic weight, as Nike will succeed Adidas as the DFB's kit supplier starting in 2027, potentially lending these items significant collector appeal.

Financial Forecast Overshadows Product Momentum

Despite the high-profile product launch, Adidas shares continue to trade close to a three-year low. The primary pressure point is the company's financial outlook for 2026. Management anticipates high single-digit revenue growth, building on an expected €24.8 billion in sales for 2025, and an operating profit of approximately €2.3 billion. However, this projection is weighed down by US tariff impacts and negative currency effects, which are forecast to combine for a €400 million headwind.

This cautious guidance stands in stark contrast to the firm's robust 2025 performance. The gross margin improved to 51.6%, while operating profit surged 54% to €2.06 billion. Net income from continuing operations jumped nearly 70%, reaching €1.38 billion. In a show of confidence, the board proposed a 40% dividend increase to €2.80 per share and announced a new share buyback program of up to €1 billion. The market will be watching closely to see if World Cup-related sales can partially offset the tariff burden when Adidas reports its first-quarter 2026 results on April 29.

Iconic Logo Returns for Final FIFA Tournament as Partner

For the first time in 36 years, Adidas's classic Trefoil logo is reappearing on World Cup kits. The sportswear giant has presented away shirts for all 25 of its federation partners, which include 13 already-qualified nations such as Argentina, Belgium, and Germany. The designs draw inspiration from 1990s aesthetics while incorporating modern performance technology.

The commercial potential for this tournament is substantial. During the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Adidas saw a 19% increase in equipment and accessory sales. The 2026 event, to be hosted across the USA, Mexico, and Canada, will be the first to feature 48 teams. FIFA estimates it will reach a global audience of approximately six billion viewers. As an official FIFA Partner—the organization's top sponsorship tier—Adidas is positioned to capitalize on this unprecedented scale.
