Almonty Industries has taken a formal step to grease the wheels for secondary-market trading of its newly issued equity, just as the company’s long-awaited Sangdong tungsten mine in South Korea cranks up its processing plant. On 2 July 2026, the company issued 145,000 new common shares and simultaneously filed a cleansing notice with the Australian Securities Exchange under Section 708A(5)(e) of the Corporations Act. The notice confirms that Almonty meets its ongoing disclosure obligations and that no material price-sensitive information is being withheld – a procedural green light that lets the new stock trade without a full prospectus.

That capital move follows the real catalyst: in June 2026, the processing facility in Gangwon province moved beyond trial runs into throughput operations. Raw ore is now being converted into saleable tungsten concentrate, marking the transition from a capital-intensive development phase to an operating business. For Almonty, it is the first time in decades that commercial tungsten sales are flowing from South Korea.

To support the ramp-up, the company has built a substantial stockpile of roughly 139,700 tonnes of feedstock. The inventory consists of 120,000 tonnes of stockpiled ore from the first quarter, grading 0.24 percent tungsten trioxide (WO?), plus 19,700 tonnes of fresh development ore from the second quarter with a higher grade of 0.35 percent WO?. The blended head grade sits at approximately 0.25 percent WO?, and at current market prices Almonty puts the gross metal value of that inventory at around US$68 million.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Almonty?

Management is taking a measured approach to the initial production phase. The plant is fed with the lower-grade material first to maintain a consistent blend while the facility gradually reaches nameplate capacity. At the current processing rate in the first expansion phase, the stockpile covers about 2.6 months of operation. Meanwhile, underground development continues: 214.6 metres of drift were advanced along the main vein in the second quarter, securing fresh ore for the future. The longer-term plan calls for a vertically integrated supply chain, including a downstream tungsten oxide processing facility in the same region.

The operational progress is mirrored in the share price. Almonty’s stock closed at C$23.14 on Friday, having gained 92 percent since the start of the year and 210 percent over the past twelve months. While the shares sit about 30 percent below their recent annual high, they remain comfortably above the 200-day moving average – a technical signal that the uptrend is intact despite the pullback.

The timing of the production start aligns with a broader strategic push. At the end of June, Almonty was added to the Russell 1000 and Russell 3000 indices, widening its institutional investor base precisely as the company begins generating revenue. With tungsten prices holding firm during this critical ramp-up, the stage is set for Almonty to deliver its first commercial sales in decades – and to prove that the shift from developer to producer is more than just a headline.
